On the Ground at ITIs: Campus Activities & What Made Headlines
At our institute, located in majalgaon Beed , Maharashtra, learning extends far beyond the classroom. We believe in a dynamic, hands-on approach that connects students directly to industry, national initiatives, and real-world opportunities. From major placement drives to national competitions, here’s a look at the activities that shape the student experience at our ITI.
1. Apprenticeship & Rozgar Melas: From Campus to Career
We regularly serve as a host for the Pradhan Mantri National Apprenticeship Melas (PMNAM). These events have become a reliable, monthly opportunity for our students to find apprenticeships and jobs right here in Parli Vaijnath and the wider Beed district.
A “Day in the Life” of a Mela: The campus transforms on mela day. Students arrive with their resumes, mark sheets, and a positive attitude. Representatives from top companies, across sectors like automotive, manufacturing, and electronics, set up stalls to screen and interview candidates. Many students walk away with an on-the-spot offer letter. This fast-paced, direct-hiring model is a key reason why these melas have become a central part of our campus calendar, creating a predictable “second-Monday” pipeline that many of our students now bank on for their first career step.
Student Preparedness: We prepare our students for these events with workshops on resume building, interview etiquette, and what to expect. We emphasize the importance of having all their documents ready, including their Aadhaar card, mark-sheets, passport photos, and a complete profile on the Skill India Digital (SIDH) portal. This makes the verification process seamless for employers and ensures our students are professional and ready for immediate opportunities. Even Class 10/12 pass-outs or ITI freshers qualify for many of the apprentice roles offered, making these melas incredibly accessible.
2. Skills to Medals: The IndiaSkills & WorldSkills Journey
Our institute takes immense pride in training and supporting students who compete at the highest levels. The IndiaSkills 2024 national competition (held from May 15-19 at Yashobhoomi, Dwarka) was a major highlight, where over 900 participants from across India showcased their talent in 61 different skills, from welding and mechatronics to cloud computing and healthcare.
Pathway to Excellence: Many of our students are part of the ecosystem that feeds into these national competitions. Our experienced faculty, many of whom are CITS (Craft Instructor Training Scheme) certified, provide specialized coaching and mentorship. We identify talented individuals early and guide them through district and state-level skill competitions, preparing them for the national stage.
National Recognition: IndiaSkills 2024 produced 58 national champions who represented India at WorldSkills Lyon 2024 in September. India’s contingent delivered an impressive performance, clinching four bronze medals and 12 Medallions of Excellence. This success directly validates the quality of ITI-aligned skills and serves as a powerful aspiration anchor for our trainees in Parli Vaijnath, showing them that their hands-on skills can truly be world-class.
Encouraging Participation: We actively encourage our students to participate in these skill competitions, offering them specialized training, access to advanced equipment, and the mentorship needed to excel. Such participation not only hones their technical abilities but also builds confidence, problem-solving skills, and resilience—qualities highly valued by employers.
3. Lab Upgrades & Sector Pivots: Modernizing for the Future
Our institute is continually modernizing its infrastructure and curriculum to align with industry 4.0 standards and the evolving demands of the job market. This is significantly boosted by the ITI Upgradation plan approved in May 2025, which positions us within a “hub-and-spoke” model.
State-of-the-Art Facilities: As part of this national scheme, our labs are being equipped with cutting-edge machinery and simulation tools. For instance, we are introducing EV maintenance workshops, renewable energy (solar/wind) labs, and advanced automation and precision manufacturing equipment.
Real-World Application: We actively demonstrate these new technologies to our students, showing them practical applications. Imagine seeing an EV drivetrain being dismantled and reassembled, or understanding how a solar power system generates electricity right here on campus. These hands-on experiences are crucial.
Industry-Aligned Curriculum: Our trades are continuously revamped to reflect industry needs. For example, while traditional fitting and welding remain strong, we are now integrating modules on TIG/MIG welding, CNC operations, and quality inspection, which are critical in modern manufacturing. This ensures that when our students graduate, they are familiar with the exact tools and processes used in industrial settings, making their transition to the workplace seamless.
4. Dual System of Training (DST): Blending Theory with Practice
The Dual System of Training (DST) is a cornerstone of our practical approach, seamlessly blending theoretical instruction at our ITI with hands-on, practical training within actual industrial settings.
Embedded Industry Experience: Unlike traditional models, DST integrates factory floor training directly into the ITI course itself. Our students spend dedicated weeks or months working within our partner companies, applying classroom knowledge to real-world production processes and problem-solving.
“Job-Ready” Graduates: This approach ensures our students graduate truly “job-ready.” They are not just learning about tools; they are using them in a professional environment, understanding safety protocols, team dynamics, and industrial workflows. This direct exposure tightens industry linkages and updates trainees on live technologies, making their skills highly relevant and sought-after.
Strong Industry Partnerships: We foster strong collaborations with industries in Maharashtra and beyond. These partners often co-design labs and curricula with us, ensuring the training is perfectly aligned with their operational needs. This often leads to higher placement and apprenticeship absorption rates for our DST cohorts, as companies already know and trust their capabilities.
5. Cleanliness, Safety, and Soft Skills Development
A holistic approach to education means preparing students for all aspects of professional life.
Swachhata Pakhwada: We actively observe the Swachhata Pakhwada (Cleanliness Fortnight) and other national campaigns across our institute. These initiatives instill a strong sense of civic responsibility, hygiene, and environmental awareness among our students. We conduct cleanliness drives, workshops on waste management, and emphasize maintaining a clean and organized workspace—a critical habit for any industrial setting.
Safety First: Safety is paramount in all technical trades. Our campus regularly conducts safety drills, workshops on industrial safety norms, and promotes a culture of vigilance. Students are trained in proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), handling of machinery, and emergency procedures, ensuring they can operate safely in any professional environment.
Soft Skills & Professional Ethics: Alongside technical training, we dedicate time to developing crucial soft skills. These include effective communication, teamwork, problem-solving, critical thinking, and professional ethics. These skills are vital for career progression and are often highlighted by employers as essential attributes for new recruits. Regular industry talks and mock interviews help students refine these abilities.
6. PM Vishwakarma Linkages: Bridging Formal Training with Traditional Crafts
While our primary focus is formal technical education, we also understand the rich heritage of traditional crafts and skills in India. We actively support and integrate with initiatives like the PM Vishwakarma scheme, which targets traditional artisans.
Hosting Programs: Our institute often helps host or amplify trainer/assessor programs and identity/credential drives for local artisans under PM Vishwakarma. This bridges formal training with community crafts.
Skill Upgradation: We offer bridging courses and workshops designed to help traditional artisans in majalgaon and surrounding areas upgrade their tools, techniques, and business practices. This might include introducing them to modern machinery, digital literacy, or entrepreneurial skills, helping them enhance their livelihoods and connect to broader markets. This initiative fosters a spirit of community engagement and mutual learning, enriching both our students and local artisans.
